Our Story
CardIng means combing and cleaning textile fibers before spinning them. Cabo means thread or yarn. For us, Cardan Cabos is the process of removing impurities that affect our way of life in some way. We seek to build something new, a new yarn, a new story.
We are a textile design brand specializing in apparel and home goods. Founded in 2015 by Uruguayan textile designer Soledad Oliver.
Every product undergoes an extensive design process. We continuously experiment with diverse weaving techniques, achieving unique textures and compositions. Collaborating closely with local artisans, we exchange knowledge about textile craftsmanship, deepening our immersion in the fascinating world of textile design.
We spin top-quality extra-fine Merino wool at Uruguayan spinning mills, crafting garments in varying thicknesses to adapt to every moment of daily life. We hold a special love for hand-knit, ultra-warm, and cozy pieces designed for winter days. Yet we also take pride in creating fresh, lightweight garments adorned with embroidery, custom tailoring, or eco-printing details—transforming them into unique pieces—while staying true to the classic designs that are essential to any wardrobe.
We choose Merino wool primarily because it is a domestic raw material, thereby supporting Uruguayan industry. We also value it as a remarkable material with inherent properties and benefits.

Hace un tiempo decidimos empezar a teñir algunos hilados con tintes naturales y generar estampas con ecoprint (estampado con plantas). Descubrir este mundo fue fascinante. Estamos muy entusiasmados por los resultados que venimos logrando, y creemos que esto es sólo el comienzo de una gran etapa de Cardan Cabos.
Our aim is to spark awareness in the design world and unite with others on the path to sustainability. Reducing synthetic dyes in our products was a necessary step we felt compelled to take. We must act urgently and responsibly, embracing mindful consumption. Every choice we make creates a ripple effect.
